5 Ways to Style a Striped Tee: Talbots x O Magazine

I’ve decided to partner with Talbots and Stylinity in support of  O, The Oprah Magazine Collection now available at Talbots! This special collaboration benefits Dress for Success, with 30% of the proceeds going back to the organization. In case you’re not familiar, Dress for Success is an international not-for-profit organization that empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

In spirit of this exciting collaboration, I’ve been inspired to show you two ways to style this classic tee. I love how versatile and flattering this shirt is. I know I will be wearing it on repeat all spring long!

Ways to style:

Pair with white denim and a bright colored blazer to give your casual tee a more sophisticated vibe. Don’t be afraid to roll those sleeves up and reveal the sleeve detail on the tee.

Going for a more relaxed weekend look? Throw on your favorite pair of black denim, jean jacket and little white sneaker.

Other ways to style:

  • Pair with distressed denim and ankle boots for a dressed-down look.

  • Go simple (but chic) and pair with a button-front A-line skirt.

  • Throw on a pair of leggings and voila! Your new favorite travel outfit.

The limited-edition, be-good-to-yourself pieces (part of Talbots’ ultra-comfortable T by Talbots collection) are inspired by their belief that women should look and feel great on the go. Shop the entire collection here!
Which is your favorite look? Would love to hear in the comments below.

Thank you to Talbots and Stylinity for collaborating with me on this post.

Away Luggage Review + FAQs

I’ve recently had the chance to try Away luggage to see if it lived up to all of the hype. My first trip with it was a trip to Europe. I challenged myself to only packing The Bigger Carry On (with ejectable battery) for 12 days. To see more about what I packed, you can check out this blog post here.

In a recent poll on my IG stories, I collected all of your questions about the bag and here are my honest opinions. Full disclosure, Away was kind enough to gift me the luggage but this post is not sponsored whatsoever. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

To view full product details on The Bigger Carry On, please check them out here.

QUESTIONS + ANSWERS

What size do you have?

The Bigger Carry On with the ejectable battery in Navy.
I also have The Bigger Carry On with the ejectable battery in Green and The Everywhere Bag in Navy. This size perfectly fits in standard airplanes. I had no issues fitting it in the overhead bin. The Bigger Carry-On is made to fit the standard that airlines actually use—the sizer. And the sizer can fit slightly bigger bags.

Featured and Details: Durable polycarbonate shell- Ejectable battery that charges your phone - TSA-approved combination lock - 360° spinner wheels - Interior compression system - Hidden laundry bag Exterior measurements 22.7” x 14.7” x 9.6” Interior measurements 21” x 14.5” Weight 7.8 lbs Capacity 47.9L

Does it hold everything you need? Or smaller than normal?

It may seem smaller than a normal size bag but it really does fit a lot. The bag zips in half, so you have one compartment for clothing, the other for side for toiletries, shoes, etc. I was honestly shocked by how much I could fit into the bag.

Best way to pack thing into it?  How much stuff can you get in it? How many days?

In case you missed it, I shared how I packed for 12 days in Europe during the winter in a blog post here. The best way to pack (in my opinion) is to roll your items and use packing cubes. The packing cubes really help squish things down to maximize your space. I also highly recommend this flat toiletry bag. As a chronic over-packer, I was surprised to see how efficiently I was able to pack for this long trip. It’s definitely doable.

Is it easy to carry on to planes?

Very much so. I really like how sleek it is and balanced. With some of my other rolling bags, it gets top heavy and often falls over. The handle is conveniently placed so that the weight is distributed evenly. The size is perfect and fits seamlessly in the overhead bin with zero issues.

Is the handle sturdy? Easy to pull/turn? Is it rolling well?

Yes to all. I was very skeptical because I previously had the Travelpro Platinum Magna 2 and the wheels are incredible. Although these wheels aren’t as heavy duty as my other bag, it still held up really well and glided nicely. Sometimes it’s a little difficult to wheel on carpet, but so was my other bag. I’ve been pulling the Away bag through all scenarios, down stairs, through city streets and I’ve been impressed by how sturdy it is.

Durability? How is wear and tear? Scratches? Does outside get damaged?

It’s extremely durable. When you receive the bag, it comes with a self-cleaning kit which I haven’t used yet even though I maybe should. It

What is the texture like? Does it scrape hands?

The outside of the bag is a durable polycarbonate shell, which makes it waterproof and easy to clean. It’s porous and hard but not rough, if that makes sense. I’ve had no issues with scraping or rough textures against my skin.

How’s the battery feature? Love it or is it too complicated?

To be honest, I was actually nervous that it was going to be complicated but it’s SO simple. You just pop it out, charge it before your trip and push it back in. I usually carry this portable charger on me at all times but I’ve used this one quite a few times when my other one died. I think it’s a feature worth having, it absolutely doesn’t hurt.

Comparison on what you used before and the compartments?

As previously mentioned, I used this bag. The main difference in the compartments is that my old one was just one large compartment. The Away bag is evenly split into two. I prefer the Away bag because it’s easier to access things while you’re traveling. You don’t need to dig to the bottom, if that makes sense. I loved the functionality and customer service of my Travelpro, but I didn’t love the look of it.

What makes it different/ worth the splurge?

So just as a friendly reminder, I am not an Away partner, I am not being paid to promote this whatsoever. Aside from the bag being extremely functional, it’s sleek. I like how fashionable AND functional this bag is. The design is extremely smart and thought through. For so long, I’ve had bags that were functional but didn’t always look cool/ sleek. This is the first bag that I’ve found that offers both.

Frequently Asked Bra Questions

Last week, I shared a #TryOnConfidential featuring sports bras. I was incredibly excited by all of your questions and realize there is so much more ground to cover. I’ve been sifting through my DM’s and the questionnaire I posted yesterday. I wanted to put this all into a blog post so we can refer back to later.

Here are your most frequently asked bra questions:

Q: Where do I get fitted for a bra?

A: Bra fitting is a professional skill. There is nothing like getting fitted for a bra in person. My top suggestions would be Nordstrom (they go through an intensive bra training process) or a bra specialty store in your town, find a store near you here. If you’re in Buffalo, I’d highly recommend Lace & Day. Two sisters own it and I PROMISE you will have an amazing experience.

Q: I really can’t get to a store, any other bra fitting tips?

A: Grab a tape measure and check out these resources that I have found helpful.
- Bra Size Calculator - Wacoal Bra Size Finder -

Q: What’s your favorite strapless?

A: I’ve been wear testing a BUNCH of strapless bras, I’m still searching for more options but here are my favorites so far. As a friendly reminder, PLEASE refer to the size guides above before you purchase.

Q: What’s your favorite t-shirt bra?

A: These are a few of my favorites:

Q: What’s your favorite non-wired/lounging bra?

A: All about a good lounge (no wire) bra for around the house. These are a few of my favorites. Note: these are NOT very supportive, I don’t typically wear these out of the house unless I have a really baggy sweater on.

Q: How many bras should I actually own?

A: Technically, you should have a bra for every day of the week. You should definitely have a rotation of bras. This helps your bras last longer. You don’t need a molded/padded bra for every outfit- only t-shirts. You can wear a laced cut and sewn bra under blouses, thick sweaters, etc. I am probably not the right person to ask because I probably have 50+ bras… I get a bunch from my job but I just can’t get enough! :)

Q: How do you care for your bras? Where do you store them?

A: I use Forever New powder on my underwear, bras and swimsuits. It safely cleans lingerie, hosiery, swimwear, silks, woolens and other colorfast delicates It has a natural base of citrus and multiple sodas, cleans then rinses completely from the fabric leaving no soap residues to damage thread fibers. HIGHLY recommend. I store my bras in a drawer- speaking of which, I need to re-organize! Thanks for the reminder!

Q: I am a wide band but small cup, any suggestions on where to find a bra?

A: I would try Elomi, Cacique, Sculptresse. But do yourself a favor and get professionally fitted. You may not be as small of a cup as you think.

Q: I need a smaller band but large cup, any suggestions on where to find a bra?

A: If you are confident in your size, I’d recommend trying out: Elomi, Freya, Panache, Chantelle to name a few! PLEASE do yourself a favor and go get professionally fitted.

Q: Do you have any recommendations for pregnancy or postpartum bras?

A: Depending on the person and their current size, it’s hard to recommend a specific style. Only because everyone’s sizes may fluctuate. Sometimes breast sizes are smaller, bigger, or stays the same but most likely our tissue becomes more “relaxed”. Sometimes they’re even one side more shallow than the other. The best answer is to get refitted once you are definitely stopped breast feeding/pumping. Everybody will fit a different silhouette. For pregnancy,  If you’re looking for a comfy bras to wear during your first & second trimester, you probably would want to look for a wire-free bra (see above). You can still wear underwire bras but your sizes will change in a short period of time… which means you might have to buy bras multiple times. I’d recommended to get fitted in your 3rd trimester for your nursing bras. At this point, your breasts should be at its fullest. You can wired bras in your correct bra size for the same everyday comfort and look or wire-free nursing bras.

Did I answer all of your questions? If not, feel free to leave a comment below or send me a message! xx

Happy #TryOnConfidential Friday, my friends! Last week on my IG Stories, I put up a poll and asked if you wanted to see coats and jackets or sports bras. With close to 2,000 votes, it was nearly a 50/50 split. Since we’re still in the thick of winter, I figured I’d do coats first! But don’t worry, sports bras will be soon!

If we’re being honest, I have WAY too many coats. Living in New York, one must be prepared for all seasons. I understand not everyone will need a winter coat but this list mentions my top 6 must have pieces of outerwear for all seasons. Stay tuned to my stories to see the full break down. Here’s my list of must haves:

1. Polished Wool Coat

2. Functional + Packable Winter Coat

3. The Trench Coat

4. Moto Jackets: Faux Leather + Suede

5. Denim Jackets: Blue + White

6. Blazers

Bonus: Statement Coats

Your Top 10 Favorites of 2018

I’ve been inspired by a few of my favorite bloggers to take a deep dive into what posts and products were your favorite last year. It was my first full year using the LikeToKnow. It app to share my clothes, accessories and other items with you so I was very excited to see what your absolute favorites were.
Here’s the countdown of your favorite items.

10. Honorable Mentions:

Ice roller, salt and pepper grinders, wine stoppers + Oprah’s favorite makeup bag. These items were featured on my holiday gift guides and I’m still using these items all of the time!

9. Bauble Bar Earrings:

The perfect way to accessorize any outfit! If you are lazy or struggle with adding a little oomph to outfits, statement earrings are my go-to to make any outfit pop.

8. Madewell shoes

These babies went ALL over with me this year, I love how versatile these mules are. You can pair them with jeans, jumpsuits, dresses and they always pull the outfit together.

7. Maggy London Dresses

If you’ve been following me for awhile, you KNOW Maggy London dresses are my never fail dress option. I can always count on their size 14 to fit me perfectly and make me feel confident for whatever meeting, party or event that comes my way.

6. Leather Leggings

In case you missed my ultimate guide to leather leggings, be sure to check it out here where I go into great depth and detail on each pair. Hopefully the guide will help you figure out which pair is right for you! Either way, these leggings are a staple in my fall through spring wardrobe and I’m so glad you’re loving them too.

5. Swimsuits

This makes me extra happy because I love swimsuits too, almost as much as I love celebrating my curves in a suit that makes me feel confident! It seems this year many of you may have caught the bug, wearing statement suits too!

4. Moto Jackets

Yasss, queens! A moto jacket is the perfect way to layer onto any outfit and instantly give it that cool factor. My favorite thing about moto jackets is you can wear them year-round. Investing in a nice faux leather or suede option will last you for YEARS! They’ll never go out of style.

3. Spanx Shapewear

Shortly after my wedding, I shared the REAL REAL on what went down underneath my wedding dress. As a bride to be, I felt that proper fitting undergarments underneath gowns were barely spoken about. I shed some light on the topic in this post in case you want to check it out here.

2. Bras!

I’ve had so much fun sharing my bra knowledge with you this year. As a lingerie model, I’ve learned so much about the importance of fit and I feel it’s my mission to share with you. Did you know most women are wearing the wrong bra size? UGH! We need to change that. Over the next year, I hope to evolve and share even MORE different types of bras with you which will hopefully inspire you to find your fit.

1. Jumpsuits + Rompers

Calling all Jumpsuit Kweens!! 2018 was the year of me stepping outside of my fashion comfort zone, discovering jumsuits/rompers and never looking back. They’re just so easy and comfortable- yet chic and elevated. I’m so glad you loved them too! As I got married in 2018, one of my favorite style moments of the year was my bridal shower look at my lemon themed party. I opted for an off-white jumpsuit by Eliza J for my bridal shower, which is RE-STOCKED for 2019 by the way. I had so much fun sharing my bridal journey and got to connect with so many other brides. It means the absolute most that I could be a small part of someone else’s big day by inspiring some of you to rock a white jumpsuit of your own!

Did you try any of these items from my posts this year? If so, which one(s)? I’d love to hear. Thank you for choosing me to be your go-to girl for all things fashion! I look forward to seeing where 2019 takes us.

Tops for Leggings (That Cover Your Bum)

In case you missed it, last week I shared the ultimate Guide to Faux Leather Leggings. I created a rating system and gave you my most honest opinion on four pairs of leggings. In case you missed it, read it here! I received some incredible feedback on it and I got quite a few requests for top suggestions to pair with the leggings. As a curvy girl, I know it can be a struggle to find tops that flatter and cover your butt. Lucky for you, I’ve rounded up some of my favorites (many on sale) that would work well with those leggings you have. I’ve found options for every body and price point. Happy shopping! xx

Your Guide to Faux Leather Leggings

IMG_6637.jpg

Happy 2019, my friends! I am back at it with the #TryOnConfidential’s and its by far one of my most requested topics… Faux Leather Leggings! You may be wondering, “are they really that complex?” My answer: YES- there’s a lot more to them than you may think. That’s why I’ve created this rating system based on:

Fit - Quality - Value - Washable

I’ve decided to start with four pairs of faux leather leggings. Please remember I am 5’’9 and a true size 14 US so keep that in mind when it comes to sizing. I’m definitely open to trying more but here are the top ones that I’ve tried and you have asked about:

Lysse: 4.25/5

My tried and true. These are the first pair I’ve ever owned and have fallen in love with. Here’s how they rank:

Fit 5/5: The most size inclusive brand of the group, for that I’ll always be favorable to them. The cater to sizes 2-26. I’ve worn a Large, X-Large and 1X (just to compare). I personally prefer the way the large fits on me and according to their size chart, I’m right in between a L and XL. If in between sizes, size down for a more “held in” feeling. They also hold their shape and never stretch out, which is a win.
Quality 4/5: These ones truly feel like a leather legging. In my opinion, they’re the most “leather-like” and the thickest. The seams are a little larger in comparison to the other pairs but they are made well. The inside feels like it has an inner lining, but it’s just the inside of the faux-leather fabric. They also have a little bit of a scent which doesn’t bother me, but it’s worth mentioning.
Value 5/5: These leggings run just under $100 (comparable to others) and they are often on sale- you just have to keep your eyes out for it. They’re a good bang for your buck that you’ll be able to rewear again. Treat them like a staple piece in your wardrobe.
Washable 3/5: According to care instructions, you can machine wash cold and gentle. You must line dry them. However, I’d highly recommend washing them inside out. I don’t LOVE the way these wash which is why I wear them a few times before washing, is that gross? I’ve worn them I’ve noticed slight wear and tear on the seams.

Overall Takeaway: the most authentic, leather-like leggings I’ve come across that fit well and hold their shape. They will forever be an all-time favorite.

Express: 2.6/5

One of the most requested comparisons by you. Here’s how they rank:

Fit 2/5: Although I am overall impressed with Express’ new size inclusivity, I was really disappointed to see how these fit. I snagged a large in these and almost wish I got a medium. They ran really big in the hips and calves. Their waistband is also incredibly small and not the most flattering Sizes run XS to XL.

Quality 3/5: These feel like straight plastic in comparison to the others. They are thick and have a cozy inner lining but I’m not overly impressed with the feeling of these for weekly wear. However, if you are someone who wants to dip their toes into the leather legging world, you may want to buy and try because of the…

Value 4/5: You know what they say, you get what you pay for. These leggings retail at $59.90 but are often on sale for $40ish which is a steal. If you’re someone who may wear leather leggings every now and then, you may want to try these if you want to stay on a budget. But let me remind you- you get what you pay for.

Washable 4/5: Their care instructions say wash inside-out, cold and gentle cycle. They did just fine in the washer except a few of the seams became loose on the inside.

Overall Takeaway: not my favorite but glad I tried them!

Spanx: 3.8/5

These leggings are EVERYWHERE! I couldn’t wait to get my hands on them. Here’s how they compare:

Fit 4/5: In other Spanx products, I wear a large so I just assumed that I’d be a large in these without thinking twice. I was sad to see that I should have ordered an XL, especially according to their size chart. The large fit on me but they’re not ideal, definitely a little snug- especially since they don’t stretch out. However, they are pretty size inclusive, ranging from an XS to 3x. I also appreciate that they also are a center-free seam, which means goodbye cameltoe!

Quality 3/5: To be honest, I wanted to love these, I really did. Overall, I was really shocked by how thin these leggings are. They are also the least like leather of the bunch. They’re more of a coated cotton rather than a true “faux-leather.” They really only have that “leathery sheen” in bright lighting.

Value 3.5/5: If you prefer a lightweight (more of a true legging) fabric then these are great. Once you find your true size, the structure of these are good. But if you’re seeking a true leather legging situation, these are not for you.

Washable 5/5: Per the care instructions, machine wash cold and inside out to maintain the legging's sheen appearance. Aha! See they even mention the “sheen appearance” here. These wash like a typical black legging so they wash perfectly.

Overall Takeaway: If you love the firm hug of Spanx shapewear and/or you’re not really into the full leather look, size up and get these!

Commando: 4.6/5

Fit 4.5/5: I learned my lesson with the Spanx ones so I was able to try the large and XL of these. At first, I was a little skeptical because you really have to work to get into these bad boys. At first, I thought I was for sure the XL but as I wore them, they began to stretch out a little bit. I wore the large and at first, when I bent over they would roll down a little bit. I did notice that the large ended up stretching out so I prefer the way the large fits me. The XL’s have stretched out a little bit in the knee.

Quality 5/5: If the Lysse and Spanx leggings had a child, they would be these Commando ones. They actually feel like leather but they are much more lightweight than the Lysse but the shapewear aspect is there. They are less of a coated fabric and feel more like a breathable, bendable legging that really holds you in. They are also seamless in all of the right places so there’s no awkward lines.

Value 4.5/5: These are comparable to Spanx and Lysse when it comes to price-wise. To me, I really loved how they held me in while also giving that true leather legging look. They’re rarely on sale but they’re a good investment piece if you will wear them frequently. I wear mine at least once a week!

Washable 4.5/5: Similar to the others, machine wash cold gentle cycle, do not bleach, dry flat, low iron, do not dry clean. I have washed these a few times already and they seem to really do well. The only thing is they do get a little crinkly in the wash but you can easily smooth them out while they are hanging or after they dry.

Overall takeaway: It may take a little to wiggle into these but trust me, they are worth the wiggle!

Red Underwear For The New Year!

Paying homage to my Italian roots, it’s been said that wearing red undergarments on New Year’s Eve brings good luck and prosperity. It’s believed that wearing the color red helps continue the intention of good luck, so you may just wear it on the New Year, or every day because, why not?! For many of us, lingerie is a practical necessity but I’m here to remind you that it can be a lot of fun! I’ve rounded up my favorite red bra’s and panties to help you ring in the new year in style:

DSC06834.JPG

If you’ve been around here for awhile, you know that I just LOVE all things Maggy London. Not only are they gorgeous dresses, but they are size inclusive and quality dresses! Their fit is always on point, I can always trust that I’m a true 14 in their clothes.

In case you missed it, I recently announced that I have been contributing to the Maggy London blog! Last month, I showed how you could wear three pieces, six ways and make the most of your wardrobe. Read last month’s post here!

This month, I’ve rounded up my three favorite Maggy London holiday looks on their blog. Check out that post here! For today’s #TryOnConfidential, I’m trying on these items + showing you some of my other favorite ML styles to wear on repeat all season long! Be sure to tune into my IG stories to see how the items fit & how I’m styling them for the holiday season. I will be giving one dress away from their Holiday Edit. Keep reading to find out how!

Wardrobe Update: Boots, Pumps and Flats

This time of year, I always feel helpless when it comes to shoes. As a size 11, I often have a hard time finding styles I love and are functional. I need my shoes to be functional and fashionable- you’ll rarely see me in uncomfortable heels. As a model, I wear uncomfortable shoes for a living so I need my shoes to be on point! I’ve decided to round up a bunch of my favorite (and affordable) shoes for the season! Many of you have asked for boots, functional flats and wide width options. I’ve linked a bunch, so happy shopping!

If you don’t see anything you like and need help finding a specific pair, feel free to leave a comment or shoot me a message. I’m happy to help in any way that I can. After all, I know all too well that the shoe struggle can be REAL.

My favorite places to shoe shop: Nordstrom Rack, Nordstrom, DSW, Zappos and Haute Look. Some of my favorite brands (linked above) are Franco Sarto, Madewell, Sam Edelman, Dolce Vita, Aerosoles, Tory Burch, ASOS, Rebecca Minkoff and Kate Spade. Are there any that I missed? Leave your favorite size inclusive shoe suggestions below!
