Sunday Skin: Beauty Favs from Colleen Rothschild

In honor of Self Care Sunday, let’s talk skincare! As I get older, I’m realizing how important it is to take care of our skin. It doesn’t have to be an extravagant 12 step process (although most nights I enjoy doing all of the things), it just needs to be effective. Male or female, if you have skin - you need to take care of it. If you’re reading this and thinking “oh, snap - that’s me” - have no fear! At the very least, you should be cleansing and moisturizing. Once you get that down, you can start experimenting and that’s where I’m at. I love trying out new skincare products to see what will work best for my skin.

Facetune_17-08-2019-13-28-56.JPG

Enter, Colleen Rothschild. A brand I’ve known about for well over a year now, somehow stumbled upon their IG page and I’ve been extremely curious about ever since. I’ve heard some of my favorite bloggers talk about them @kerrently, @twopeasinaprada and @kateymcfarland to name a few so when the CR team challenged me to try, I was ecstatic. Colleen Rothschild created this skincare line to be effortless, beautiful, and highly effective. I didn’t know where to start, so I took a peek at their best sellers (which are on sale today but we’ll get to that in a minute).

DSC01940.jpg

When I post about new beauty products, I like to try them out for at least a month before committing to a post (so I can genuinely speak to my experience) but as soon as I got my hands on these items, I was hooked. I’ve been using these products for a few weeks now and I’m a believer. The first product I used was the Radiant Cleansing Balm, created to clear congested pores and impurities while dissolving all traces of makeup, leaving skin balanced, soft, and radiant. It also smells like a spa and its application was unlike anything I’ve ever used at home so yeah - I’m a believer.

Whenever I try out a new brand, I tend to gravitate towards their trial kits- so I can get a little teaser/taste of their best products. I brought along The Discovery Collection (not included in the sale) on my two most recent trips and I LOVED being able to try out all of the things. Aside from the Radiant Cleansing Balm, my other favorites included the Intense Hydrating Mask, a boost of highly concentrated hydration my skin CRAVES after flying and their Retinol Supreme Night Oil, which refines skin tone and texture, fighting age spots and improves dullness. Now, I’m sure I will have a few more favorites but need some time to keep using the items.

In case you’ve never tried, today is the day! All of their Best Sellers are 25% off with code BEST25. The sale ends today 8/18. Here are a few more of their best sellers that I’ve tried:

Fresh Denim Picks: Try On Confidential (Part 1)

Last year around this time, I showed a few of my favorite brands of denim. You can check out that post here.
A few of the size inclusive brands mentioned were:

Abercrombie (up to a size 16), Madewell, Good American, American Eagle, Jen 7 Jeans, Mott & Bow, Blank NYC , Articles of Society, Kut from the Kloth, DL1961, Universal Standard

Truth be told, I still LOVE all of the pairs that I showed last year and although I didn’t really NEED any new pairs of denim, I thought it would be fun to try a few new brands and styles that are outside of my usual denim repertoire. So welcome to an updated #TryOnConfidential, very excited about my size inclusive findings this year! Consider this part one, I’m sure I’ll have another at some point later in the fall. Be sure to leave any requests in a comment below. Brands tried:

J.Crew, LOFT, Everlane
+ Sofia Vergara

PAIRS AND SIZES WORN:

OTHER ITEMS WORN (IN ORDER)

all items run TTS so follow each individual store’s sizing charts. I’m wearing my usual sizes 14 / L, size 11 shoe.

ALL NEW DENIM:

Well, what did you think? I hope this inspires you to step outside of your denim comfort zone this season and try a new brand/style. Leave any thoughts / questions below!

Life Hack: Walmart's Online Grocery Pickup

DSC08956.jpg

Earlier this week on my IG stories I shared that when my travels pick up, household chores like cooking and grocery shopping get difficult for me. I have been looking into online grocery pickups for awhile now and I put up a questionnaire asking you gals if/what you’ve used. There was an overwhelming response on Walmart’s Online Grocery Pickup service so when Walmart approached me to try it for myself, I couldn’t resist. I was excited to see what all of the excitement was about and impressed by how easy the process was. I usually shop at Walmart for all of my household goods (re: paper towels, toilet paper, cleaning products, condiments, vitamins, etc) as I feel like it’s a better value than other stores around me. I LOVE one stop shopping so I was very excited to see how this went.

DSC08995.jpg

HOW IT WORKS:

Visit Walmart online and enter your zip code. You can then browse the Walmart Grocery assortment online, which carry the same prices as local Walmart stores. During checkout, customers choose a designated store to visit and select a timeslot to pick up their order. There is a $30 minimum purchase for all Walmart Grocery orders and pickup is always free. You can also download the Walmart Grocery App and do this all from your phone! Once my order was ready, I received a call and drove to my desired location and parked in the designated parking area for pickup. Once I arrived, an employee approached my car, verified my order and loaded it into my trunk. Just like that, I was on my way home with a car full of groceries!

WHAT I GOT:

My usual weekly haul includes fruits, veggies and chicken breast with the occasional household items. I love how everything it categorized by category - great for back to school shopping too! I couldn’t help but to find the pet section and snagged Walter some new toys and water bowl. I also picked a few restock of my beauty favorites- this deodorant mini, makeup removing wipes and my favorite hack for showing bald spots this magical root spray. And remember when my dishwasher was acting like a fool? This stuff has been a HUGE help!

TRY IT FOR YOURSELF:

My friends at Walmart were kind enough to share an exclusive code, just for my readers! Use M2A3DZ3F for $10 off your first order of $50 or more on Walmart online or download the grocery app to order and redeem code. The offer is good for first-time customers. $50 minimum order, exp 1/31/2020

Would LOVE to hear your thoughts / experiences if you’ve ever tried or interested in trying. Thanks to Walmart for collaborating with me on this post, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Bralettes For All Sizes

This has been a post for a few months in the making. After researching over 40+ different styles, reaching out to a bunch of different brands and taking the time to try them all out, I am finally ready to share my initial findings. I firmly believe there will be more styles that I haven’t tried out yet so consider this part one.

After teasing this story a few times on my social media, I’ve found that there are two different understandings of bralettes. There are those that are meant to be seen and those meant for comfort. Typically, they’re lacy, unlined and don’t offer the best support- especially for full busts. I’m here to show you there are some incredible options for both scenarios but some better than others.
To watch a few of my favorites, check out the video below. Due to modesty purposes, I was unable to show all of them on but can report back on all styles shown below.

As a friendly reminder, I wear a US size 34H in everyday bras.
Individual sizing details will be listed below each product image below.

Arm Party: Victoria Emerson's Xmas in July Sale

Earlier this month I introduced you to one of my favorite new accessory brands, Victoria Emerson on this blog post. As I previously mentioned, I’ve always loved the look of a stacked bracelet look but styling multiple different styles is a little intimidating until I discovered the brand. Their Boho Cuff bracelets have a magnetic clasp so that you can easily throw it on for a full look without having to think about it. How brilliant is that? This weekend, I’m back to share more styles that I picked up for their Xmas in July Sale with wrap styles at $19.99 and $24.99 boho cuffs (regular price $32-$50). Seriously such a steal! They also make great gifts so now would be a great time to stock up for future events + holidays. Here’s how I styled my favorite sale picks:

My First Meetup Event in Buffalo, NY

One of my goals for 2019 was to host an event! I’m incredibly grateful to Holly + Emily over at Lace & Day for allowing this to happen. I wanted to create an experience that I could connect with member of my hometown community while sipping on Prosecco, snacking on sweet treats, and have the option to a get professional bra fitting in a no-pressure-to-buy environment! A special thanks to Kayla from Wildroot Floral for the gorgeous flower crowns. Here are some of my favorite moments from the event:

Thanks to everyone who attended, it meant so much to me that I was able to meet some familiar faces in real life. Where should I plan my next event? What should we do? Looking forward to hearing your responses.

Rent The Runway Unlimited: Tips For The Curvy Girl

RTRpost2CM.JPG

HOW IT WORKS:

I've been using Rent The Runway's Unlimited program since August 2018 and it's safe to say, I feel like a RTR expert now when it comes to finding styles that will work for me.

If you're unfamiliar with the Unlimited program, you can rent four or more items at a time, swapping them out for new styles whenever you want or purchasing them if you want to keep it.

They handle the dry cleaning and insurance so all you have to do is throw the worn items in the reusable pre-paid shipping bag and prepare for your next shipment. You can heart the items and create short lists for different events or moments that you may have coming up such as weddings, events, trips or for work. I’ve created short lists for weddings, vacation and upcoming work related events.

From casual wear to formal wear, and everything in between - it's a great option to constantly keep your wardrobe fresh without the hefty price tag, and still keep your wardrobe fresh and updated. As you’ll see in the look above, I had so much fun pairing this Veronica Beard Bexley Dickey Blazer with my favorite white denim, I almost didn’t want to send it back!

WHAT I LIKE:

I've put together a list of my favorite brands that I have luck with as a size 14, 5”8.5 gal!

Adrianna Papell - Andrew Marc - ASTR - BB Dakota - B Collection by Bobeau - Badgley Mischka - Blank NYC - Cupcakes and Cashmere - Cynthia Rowley - Derek Lam - Diane Von Furstenburg - Donna Morgan - Draper James x Eloquii - Fame and Partners - Figue - Good American - Habitual - Hutch - J Crew - Jenny Yoo - Junarose - Just Female - Kate Spade - Lauren Ralph Lauren - Madewell - Mink Pink - Monique Lhullier - Moon River - Nicholas - Nicole Miller - Rebecca Taylor - Tart Collections - Prabel Gurung - Rachel Pally - Rachel Roy - Sanctuary - Slate & Willow - Soia & Kyo - Tanya Taylor - Tory Burch - Veronica Beard

My favorite things to rent are dresses, jumpsuits, jackets/blazers and tops. However, there are tons more options on the site such as accessories: handbags, jewelry, sunglasses, maternity clothes, kids clothing and so much more. When looking through different items, I recommend checking out the customer reviews at the bottom of each product, it definitely helps you get a better understanding of how each piece will fit your body type.

Here are a few of my favorite rentals and other items saved to my favorites, I will be sure to keep adding to this as I continue to wear more things! Some of my absolute favorites from these shots are the ASTR Faux Shearling Brooklyn Jacket and the Tory Burch Ellis Striped Skirt!

AS SEEN HERE:

Did you find this helpful? Have you ever tried RTR Unlimited? What are some of your favorite brands / items that you've tried? Would love to hear your thoughts below.

You can use RTRCARALYN for $100 off your first two months of Unlimited, to sign up click here

Size Inclusive Weekend Style with J.Crew

Thanks to J.Crew for collaborating with me on this post.

Writing this makes my heart sing because I have officially fallen in love with J.Crew all over again. Growing up, I always loved their styles but their sizing was inconsistent, I would sometimes leave the store feeling defeated. In recent years, they did a major overhaul of their sizing, including expanding their size range. I have to say, everything has been ON POINT lately and I couldn’t imagine stepping into summer without some of their styles! I’ve featured a few other J.Crew looks here, here and here to see if you like them and it seems like the feelings are mutual. Today, I decided to try something new and step out in these blue linen pants!

If we’re being honest, I’m new to the wide leg pants trend. I love that this pattern has black and white in it so you can easily pair a white button down or a black tee with it, depending on your vibe! I paired them with this white blouse, these earrings, the comfiest sandals ever and this clutch!

SIZING DETAILS:

Wearing my usual size 14 / large in everything and I’d say everything fits very true to size.

How To Professionally Whiten Your Teeth at Home with Opalescence™

After years of using the products and talking about them on social media, I am SO excited to be partnering up with my friends over at Opalescence™ to give a greater look into how I keep my teeth so white. It all started a few years ago when my family discovered their whitening products at the dentist.  Their whitening trays are designed to stay in contact with the teeth to oxidize the molecules that cause discoloration, without coming into contact with soft tissue. We all became quickly obsessed—so much so that we started purchasing the whitening trays for each other for holidays, no joke! The love affair continued when I learned more about their other product offerings, specifically their toothpaste.

Everyday Brushing
Opalescence Whitening Toothpaste

was developed as an easy and effective way to maintain a bright, white smile. It removes surface stains, but more importantly, helps strengthen teeth with its unique formula. It’s safe for everyday use with its very low abrasiveness, it has been proven to remove surface stains to lighten teeth two shades in just one month. It is also gluten free and kosher certified, so it conforms to the dietary requirement of people from many backgrounds. It is also the only Ultradent product that is available for consumers to order online and there’s always free shipping!

You can order it here and use CARALYN for a discount off of your order.

at-home whitening product Opalescence Go™ trays:

My absolute favorite professional alternative to over-the-counter whitening options. The trays are easy to use and a great-tasting way to start a whitening treatment or to use for whitening touch-ups. I like to use them right after a trip to the dentist and monthly, as needed for touch ups. With no impressions or custom trays necessary, you can use Opalescence Go™ right out of the package. The trays conform to the shape of your mouth by using your own body temperature. They come in two different options: Mint and Melon flavors and two different strengths:  10% (wear for 30–60 minutes for 5 to 10 days) and 15% (wear for 15–20 minutes for 5 to 10 days until desired whiteness.) I prefer the Mint and wear them for the full time. When I first started using the trays, I’d wear them for the lowest amount of time to ensure I wouldn’t have any sensitivity. Everyone is affected differently so be sure to talk to your dentist about which option would be best for you.

To learn more about the whitening products, click here!
You can purchase the whitening trays through your dentist, their only authorized retailers.

So that’s the secret behind how I keep my teeth pearly white! I’m a true believer in Opalescence™, as I’ve said I’ve been using them for 4+ years now and I know you will love the products too!
