Size Inclusive Denim With A Twist

Happy weekend, my friends! It’s no secret I’ve been a lover of all things animal print this season, especially snake print. Stepping out today in my new Sanctuary Denim from Bloomingdale’s. It’s so important for me to share brands that cater to a range of sizes, especially when they are stylish and on trend. They’re all pretty affordable too, each pair is around or just under $100! They’re having a friends and family sale online through 10/14, 25% off of some items and $25 gift card for every $100 you spend.

If you’re looking to step up your denim game, try a printed or pattern jean in neutral colors. They pair really well with basics and gives your wardrobe an updated twist. Here are a few of my favorite styles:

When you’re rocking patterned bottoms, I always like to balance the outfit with neutrals (black especially in the fall/winter) but keeping things fresh and modern with white booties.

How do you feel about the patterned denim trend? Leave your thoughts below!

Thanks to Bloomingdales for collaborating with me on this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Photos are by Ryan of Seek Axiom.

Buffalo, NY Travel Guide

As I was working on my Las Vegas style guide last week, I realized I’ve NEVER done a feature/guide on my hometown of Buffalo, NY. Pretty embarrassing, if you ask me. I have a tremendous amount of pride being from Buffalo, we’re the city of good neighbors after all! Every now and then I’ll get requests for suggestions so I’ve finally put together this list of suggestions from a local.

Although we’re known for our hearty winters, we have some incredible weather in the spring, summer and fall. All of the “snowbirds” who leave for the winter, always find their way back during this time. Depending on your interests, anyone can find something worth their while. From the famous architecture, to the waterfront activities to the underrated food scene and hidden gems of boutiques - there’s something for everyone! Niagara Falls is also pretty close, definitely something to see if you haven’t. Buffalo and it’s surrounding areas are also incredibly easy to navigate, everything is within a 15-20 minute driving distance.

one of my favorite spots to take photos, Buffalo City Hall

Most people who visit drive in (because a car is essential here) but you can fly into Buffalo/Niagara International Airport. It’s a very easy airport to navigate and offers a great variety of routes. You could also take the Amtrak train, depending on where you’re coming from. When you’re here, I would strongly suggest you rent a car. Uber/Lyft is readily available but renting a car may be more economical, it really depends on how far you want to go.

Buffalo has some incredible boutique hotels and Airbnb experiences. If I were traveling to Buffalo, I would stay closer to the downtown area - there’s a lot more happening then in the surrounding suburbs.
A few of my favorite locations (to shoot, especially):
Hotel Henry - Hotel at the Lafayette - The Mansion on Delaware Avenue - Curtiss Hotel - The Foundry Suites
If you’re all about racking up your Marriott/Hilton/etc. points there are some great new hotels downtown and near Canalside as well.

I plan on adding to this as time goes on but here are a few of my favorites:

O3 Cafe, Rachel’s Mediterranean, Joe’s Deli, Core Life Eatery, Squeeze Juicery, Ted’s Hot Dogs, Anderson’s Frozen Custard, Fresh Catch Poke Co., Wegmans
Betty’s, Sophia’s, The Original Pancake House, Cole’s Restaurant & Bar, Providence Social, Roost, The Dapper Goose, Billy Club, The Grange Community Kitchen, Creekview, Chris’ NY Deli, Ballyhoo, Allen Burger Venture, Panorama on Seven, Liberty Hound, Swan Street Diner, Rowhouse Bakery + Restaurant, Kostas
Tempo, Bacchus, Frankie Primo’s, Billy Club, Dobutsu, Raclettes, Tappo, Marble & Rye, The Left Bank, Lombardo, The Dapper Goose, Roost, Acropolis, Romeo & Juliets, Pizza Plant
Buffalo pizza has a style of it’s own and the town is always divided on who makes the best but my favorites include: Picasso’s, La Nova, Franco’s, Mister Pizza and Bocce Pizza.
Another touchy topic among passionate Buffalonians but a few of my personal favorites are:
Gabriel’s Gate, La Nova, Bar Bill Tavern
Paula’s Donuts, Anderson’s Frozen Custard, DiCamillo Bakery, Muscoreils, Lake Effect Ice Cream, Donut Kraze, Churn Soft Serve & Coffee, Fairy Cakes, Watson’s Chocolate, Altheas Chocolates

Another favorite place to shoot, Delaware Park with Albright Knox Art Gallery in the background ROMPER , wearing size 14

You should definitely bring your eating pants when you come to Buffalo. The food is pretty spectacular. But there is plenty to do, depending on what time of year you come. A few favorites (besides eating includes):
Walking around Delaware Park, Hoyt Lake and the Albright Knox Art Gallery
Checking out Buffalo’s Waterfront Canalside and it’s Buffalo Naval & Military Park
Scoping out some great local shopping off Elmwood Villiage + Hertel Avenue
Go get fitted for a bra at Lace & Day or Blum’s Buffalo (had to sneak that in)
Hatchets & Hops (axe throwing - SUPER fun!)
See a show at Shea’s Performing Arts Center
Food Truck Tuesdays in Larkin Square
Visit the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens
Frank Lloyd Wright's Darwin D. Martin House - if you’re into architecture!

Step Out Buffalo also has weekly round ups of things /events happening year round. Check them out here!

Buffalo’s best weather is from June - December (in my opinion). January - May can be very hit or miss but it really varies year to year. No matter the weather, you’ll always be greeted by friendly faces and good food! I hope this inspires your next trip to Buffalo! Feel free to leave any favorites I missed or questions below!

Las Vegas Style Guide

Perfect LBD dress (wearing 1X), silver heels (size 11), low plunge bra (34G), similar earrings and similar style purse

If you’re headed to Las Vegas and struggling with what to pack, this post is for you! I just returned home after my third trip to the city, the first time for vacation and I’ll admit- I struggled figuring out with what to bring. So I thought it would be helpful to put together a quick list of tips based on my experience and some style inspiration on some of my favorite looks from Nordstrom.

Although I paid attention to the weather forecast prior to going, I didn’t pay attention to the lower forecasted temperatures. It was a lot chillier in the mornings and evenings then I anticipated. I’m sure it depends on the time of year but many places are air conditioned, which calls for a light jacket or sweater.

One of my assumptions about Vegas was that everyone is dressed up all of the time. FALSE, this couldn’t be further from the truth. It’s actually a very casual place unless you choose to dress up for an evening out. Your outfits should really be focused around what you plan on doing while you’re there. We spent the majority of our days poolside so we didn’t explore too much during the day but I did notice that everyone was pretty casually dressed- even at the pool. We dressed up and went out to dinner every night. To be honest, I saw everything from dressed up to jeans and t-shirts so I really think it comes down to your comfort level and personal style.

Even if you plan on driving/getting dropped off at places, there is SO much walking in Vegas. Even within our hotel, it was a 5-10 minute walk to get from the elevator and through the lobby to the restaurants. Even if you’re staying within your hotel or nearby, it’s A LOT more walking than you’d think it’d be.

If it’s one thing I can reiterate, it’s that ANYTHING TRULY GOES in Vegas. I’m not exaggerating when I say that I truly saw it all. Wear what makes you feel the most comfortable and confident. With that said, here are some looks that I’m glad that I brought:

This jumpsuit was the most worn item on my trip, hands down. It is SO comfortable yet looks polished and put together. I wore this to breakfast, on chilly mornings as a pool coverup and even walking around a bit. I also love how it’s one item to throw on and how versatile this piece is, it could easily be dressed up or down with shoes and accessories.

Las Vegas is known for some of the most amazing pools so if you’re there during pool weather, be sure to bring a suit that makes you feel comfortable and confident. I was happily surprised to see all body types and swimsuits at the pool but what made me the most confident was a great one piece with a fun detail.

Perfect LBD dress (wearing 1X), silver heels (size 11), low plunge bra (34G), similar earrings and similar style purse

This is your time to shine! Again, it really depends on where you’re going and what your personal style is but you can NEVER go wrong with this little black dress/ jumpsuit. Pro tip: they’re also really easy to pack. You could re-wear it by switching up your accessories and shoes. I recently tried out Reformation’s new extended sizing and I love how they’re a sustainable brand. Here are a few of my favorites:

I hope this post was helpful for you! Be sure to leave your thoughts or any other comments below. I love shopping at Nordstrom because of how easy it is to shop online, how size inclusive they are and how superior their customer service is. To shop more sustainable brands, click here!

Spooky Season: Scary Good Accessories

Happy October 1st! As a child and into my early adult years, I LOVED all things Halloween. I really enjoyed coming up with an idea/ concept to dress up as and execute it. More importantly, I loved trick or treating, sorting all of my candy afterwards and convincing my younger sister she should trade me her Butterfinger for my Tootsie Roll. These days, my Halloween festivities are pretty lame- I’m usually working/traveling but I still enjoy the season. That’s when I came across Betsey Johnson’s Halloween Collection, I knew I just had to share these festive pieces with you. I’m rocking the Kitsch Head Case Too Crossbody Multi.

I’ve loved Betsey Johnson accessories since I was a teen, they’ve always been fun, girly and reasonably priced. If the spooky accessories aren’t for you, here are some more of my favorite more sophisticated styles like the Kassie Boots in black.

Are you into the spooky styles or more of a sophisticated gal? I think there’s a good moment for both. If you’re headed to a Halloween party and don’t love dressing up, the themed accessories are a chic way to participate if you’re not into going overboard. Thanks to Betsey Johnson for collaborating with me on this post! Photos by Ryan of Seek Axiom.

Sunday: Game Day Ready

The most important part of any game day are the snacks… at least, to me! That’s why I always volunteer to bring a snack or two for any game day related party. After all, food is what brings people together! That’s where Walmart comes in. They’re a one-stop shop for all party essentials, from game time food and snacks to servewear, kitchen appliances, and home entertainment. Whether you’re watching from the couch (like me) or tailgating at the game, they’ve got you covered with everything you might need at a great price.

Facetune_26-09-2019-06-57-21 2.jpg

Of course, being from Buffalo, NY one MUST have wings at any football related event. If you’re not from Buffalo, I’d highly recommend you trying Frank’s RedHot Wing Sauce (a local favorite) and making some at home! An authentic Buffalo wing experience involves dunking those wings in bleu cheese but if you’re more of a ranch dressing person, go ahead with your bad self!

I find it incredibly easy and a HUGE time saver to shop on Walmart online and in store using their Online Grocery pickup, more on that and a discount code here! I also found a wide selection of really well priced Buffalo Bills fan gear at my local Walmart (every store my vary) but it’s truly a one stop shop for ALL of your game day needs. Here are a few of my essentials for a successful game day:

Wide Calf / Wide Width Fall Boots

As I’m preparing more fall content, one of your top requests has been wide width and wide calf boot options. As a size 11 shoe, I personally don’t wear wide styles but I can certainly relate the struggle. I turned to YOU for all of your best suggestions for accommodating styles and here were your top suggestions for wide width AND wide calf, be sure to pay attention to which is which:

ASOS - Born - Dillards - DSW - Frye - Hunter - Just Fab - Lane Bryant - Madewell - Naturalizer - Nordstrom - Sam Edelman - Simply Be - Target - Torrid - Vince Camuto - Walmart

As a little pro tip- many of you said that not all wide widths are created equal. Be sure to pay attention to the measurements / styles on each product page before purchasing to ensure a proper fit! Here are a few of my favorite styles:

Real Talk: My Shaving Routine

Did you know men and women shave differently? As women, we typically shave 10x the area, navigating curves and angles. I’ve been shaving for 15+ years and now realize not all razors are the same. Let me introduce you to your new BFF, Billie

I discovered Billie razors about a year and a half ago, I was visiting a friend and noticed it hanging seamlessly from wall in her shower. She couldn’t say enough positive things about it, that’s when I decided to give it a try for myself. It didn’t take long until I was a believer. This razor is sharper, smoother, and more affordable. Billie blades are completely encased in 360° of charcoal shave soap designed to float over your skin for an extremely close shave. The best part? You can get it delivered to your door for just $9 + free shipping.

Included in the starter kit is their nifty wall holder which magnetically supports your razor on your shower wall so it doesn’t sit in a puddle of water. I also wanted to try their products, which were reasonably priced and ended up falling in love with their Dry-Bye Body Lotion. It’s formulated with healthy, premium ingredients to keep skin moisturized with a smooth, soothed all-day feeling. Made with grape seed, chamomile and shea butter, it has the lightest and freshest scent that wakes me up in the morning.  I’ve also had the chance to try out The Shave Cream and Sudsy Body Wash- both make showering and shaving a breeze!

So, have you ever tried? If not, what’s stopping you? I promise you’ll be a believer too after trying it once.

Affordable Fall Fashion Inspiration

Before I was considered a fashion / style blogger, I have always loved mixing higher end pieces with lower end clothing items. I’ve always believed in having fun with my outfits, investing in staple pieces and spending less on trendier styles. That’s why I was ecstatic to partner with Walmart Fashion this month and to find a size inclusive outfit for under $150. I’ve always loved shopping at Walmart since I was a little kid, my childhood home was right behind one. As an adult, I’ve really been impressed with their continued initiatives towards making life a little bit easier. I recently tried out their Online Grocery Pickup and told you all about Sofia Jeans and today I’m sharing some fall fashion inspiration to keep you stylish and your wallet happy.

Can you believe this entire look is under $130? Starting with this Time and Tru Women's Embroidered Peasant Dress (under $30) and available in three colors. I’m wearing a size large and found the sizing very generous- size down if you’re in between sizes. I also found a similar dress available in plus sizes (also under $30). I’m all about a cute bootie in the fall, especially one with a modest heel for travel and comfort. I found these Melrose Ave Women's Best-Kept Secret Vegan Mule (under $40) which are sized 6-11 and come in three colors.

I had a lot of fun accessorizing this look on Walmart Fashion’s website. They have some incredible premium brands such as BCBGeneration (my exact purse is sold out but linked a few similar below, just hit the arrows). I also really loved their affordable yet really chic costume jewelry (both pieces under $10)!

I would HIGHLY recommend shopping at Walmart online, they have an incredible selection that you may not be able to find in store. Their in-store returns are super easy and painless in case anything doesn’t work out. So, are you loving these items as much as I am? Leave your thoughts below!

Motivation Monday: Athleisure from Lole

Taking Monday to a new level, serving up some inspiration featuring a new brand called Lole- (pronounced low-lay) which stands for ‘Live Everyday Out Loud.’ Their approach to activewear for men and women is modern, mindful and meaningful, offering fashion-forward designs that move with you when you’re on the go. Every garment is versatile and high-performance, designed with a genuine concern for people, products and positive impact. They’re a newer brand and their sizing is limited to XS-XL so I hope they continue to grow and expand their range to become more inclusive.

I wanted to share this brand with you because they are an ethical, eco-friendly brand based out of Montreal (shout out to my Canadian readers) and available worldwide. They are also very passionate about giving a second life to gently worn clothing and funding food banks throughout North America. Check them out @lole on Instagram to see what they’re up to!

I decided to try a bunch of their new arrivals in multiple sizes, unsure of how things would fit. I found the Half Moon High Waist leggings in a size large fit well while the XL’s fit perfectly in all tops, specifically the Essential Up Cardigan. Here are some other of my favs:

I also really loved their incredible Lily Bag. It features plenty of multi-functional compartments including a holder for your yoga mat and room for your laptop, cellphone and shoes. So versatile, it converts easily into a backpack.

Due to their commitment to being ethical and eco-friendly, their items are a little on the pricier side so pro tip: if you sign up for their email you will receive 15% off for new subscribers. This offer is only valid for new email subscribers and it provides 15% off your first full priced order on Lole. What do you think about these new items? I hope it gets your week started off right! One Pair of Jeans, Two Ways

I’ve always loved Old Navy as an affordable, size inclusive retailer. I recently had the chance to try out Old Navy’s new and improved Universal Fit Denim. I was skeptical but genuinely excited to try out their new offerings. They took everything people love about their legendary Rockstar jean – sexy curved waistband, perfectly placed pockets, curve hugging fabric – and applied it to all of their jeans. That means, in every single pair of denim in the whole store, you get better fit, better fabric, and better booty. Sign me up for that!

They relaunched four different styles:

Pop Icon Skinny

Rockstar Super Skinny

Kicker Boot Cut

I decided to try their High-Waisted Distressed Power Slim Straight Jeans and style them two ways- one great for the warmer fall weather now and another way for when the temperature starts to drop. These jeans cut clean and straight down the leg with just enough stretch to flatter every body (and booty). They have a Clever Secret-Slim front pockets hold you in for a slimming effect, which is an instant confidence boost. I am wearing my typical size 14 here but may consider swapping them out for a size 12, as they fit well but ran a little big in the waist.

I had a lot of fun styling these jeans, they’re such a good wash- they work well with literally anything. I loved the look of this Textured Houndstooth Coat (runs large, size down) paired with this polka dot Slub-Knit 3/4-Sleeve Twist-Back Top (I took a large).

So, are you convinced yet? I strongly encourage you to get your butt to an Old Navy store and try out their new and improved denim. I’m a believer and sincerely appreciate when brands listen to their customers’ feedback. Thanks to Old Navy for partnering with me on this post. All thought and opinions are my own. Fall Accessory Refresh: Neutrals With A Punch

It’s no secret I LOVE all things Vince Camuto, especially their shoes and handbags. Some of my favorite summer + fall styles have been shown here, here, here and here - to name a few! I love how quality and versatile their offerings are while still offering a unique edge. They also go up to a size 12 in many of their shoe styles. That’s why I’m excited to collaborate with the Vince Camuto team to show you my new fall picks that I’ll be wearing all season long.

When it comes to investing in my shoes and handbags, I usually lean towards neutral pieces that will work with a wide variety of outfits. This season, I’m looking for elevated neutrals - or neutral pieces that have a little extra something! Snake print is a huge trend for fall so I love how this bag feels on trend but still incorporates the colors in a neutral color palette. Don’t be afraid to accessorize with animal print! Treat it as you would a black or nude.

When it comes to shoes, I’ve been on the hunt for all things boots and flats that are functional and fashionable. I need my shoes to last, be comfortable but also still complete my look. That’s why I’ve been gravitating towards styles like these studded flats with a little added detail.

Which is your favorite look? Be sure to leave a comment below. Special thanks to Vince Camuto for collaborating with me on this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Photos by Ryan of Seek Axiom.

Size Inclusive Workwear Essentials

I’m collaborating with LOFT to showcase my top five favorite workwear essentials for building your wardrobe. Loft has been one of my favorite destinations for clothing and accessories, I really love how size inclusive they are. I’ve really impressed with their offerings over the past few seasons and their continued efforts to make versatile styles for every body!

I recently had the chance to ask for your workwear suggestions and an overwhelming number of you have expressed your love for LOFT. That’s why I’ve decided to put together a list of my top picks for putting together a robust and versatile professional wardrobe.

Work What You've Got in Size Inclusive Sofia Jeans

Earlier this month I shared that I’ve been on the prowl for new denim brands to to try and review. In case you missed it, last week I challenged myself to a #TryOnConfidential featuring denim brands that I’ve never tried before and Sofía Jeans by Sofía Vergara were a top contender. When it comes to sharing denim brands with you all, I look at four factors: size inclusivity, quality, price and versatility. Sofía Jeans by Sofía Vergara exclusively from Walmart Fashion rank well amongst them all. I was really impressed by the number of styles offered at such a great price and sizing range. Some of my favorite styles include:

I’m wearing the Sofia Jeans Sofia Skinny Twisted Seam Mid Rise Stretch Ankle Jean in a size 14 and found they run very true to size. They’re offered in sizes 0-20 and are priced right under $30. I really love the medium wash on these ones as well as the asymmetrical hem, super flattering and elongating on the leg.

I paired the jeans with Sofia Jeans Asymmetrical Zip Moto Jacket in blush, sized XS-XXL and also comes in black. I couldn’t believe how great the quality was on this moto jacket! Such a great faux leather option for under $40.

Best Dressed: My Latest Finds at Bloomingdale's

As the summer winds down, I can’t help but to get a little bit excited for fall- specifically the fashion. One of my favorite brands offered at Bloomingdales, Parker just came out with their new styles for fall and they’re all great transitional pieces to wear now and well through upcoming seasons. Better yet, they’re working on their sizing range and now offering up to a 18/20 (XXL). Here’s a peek at some of my new favorite styles:

Typically, the brand runs a little small on me so I tend to size up but I followed the size chart and ordered a large in Parker’s Silk Floral-Print Dress (goes up to XXL). I’d say it fits very well on my size 14, 5”8.5 frame but if you’re a tall girl, you may want to size up for length- it does run on the shorter side.

Sunday Skin: Beauty Favs from Colleen Rothschild

In honor of Self Care Sunday, let’s talk skincare! As I get older, I’m realizing how important it is to take care of our skin. It doesn’t have to be an extravagant 12 step process (although most nights I enjoy doing all of the things), it just needs to be effective. Male or female, if you have skin - you need to take care of it. If you’re reading this and thinking “oh, snap - that’s me” - have no fear! At the very least, you should be cleansing and moisturizing. Once you get that down, you can start experimenting and that’s where I’m at. I love trying out new skincare products to see what will work best for my skin.

Enter, Colleen Rothschild. A brand I’ve known about for well over a year now, somehow stumbled upon their IG page and I’ve been extremely curious about ever since. I’ve heard some of my favorite bloggers talk about them @kerrently, @twopeasinaprada and @kateymcfarland to name a few so when the CR team challenged me to try, I was ecstatic. Colleen Rothschild created this skincare line to be effortless, beautiful, and highly effective. I didn’t know where to start, so I took a peek at their best sellers (which are on sale today but we’ll get to that in a minute).

When I post about new beauty products, I like to try them out for at least a month before committing to a post (so I can genuinely speak to my experience) but as soon as I got my hands on these items, I was hooked. I’ve been using these products for a few weeks now and I’m a believer. The first product I used was the Radiant Cleansing Balm, created to clear congested pores and impurities while dissolving all traces of makeup, leaving skin balanced, soft, and radiant. It also smells like a spa and its application was unlike anything I’ve ever used at home so yeah - I’m a believer.

Whenever I try out a new brand, I tend to gravitate towards their trial kits- so I can get a little teaser/taste of their best products. I brought along The Discovery Collection (not included in the sale) on my two most recent trips and I LOVED being able to try out all of the things. Aside from the Radiant Cleansing Balm, my other favorites included the Intense Hydrating Mask, a boost of highly concentrated hydration my skin CRAVES after flying and their Retinol Supreme Night Oil, which refines skin tone and texture, fighting age spots and improves dullness. Now, I’m sure I will have a few more favorites but need some time to keep using the items.

In case you’ve never tried, today is the day! All of their Best Sellers are 25% off with code BEST25. The sale ends today 8/18. Here are a few more of their best sellers that I’ve tried:

Have you ever tried the brand? Would love to hear your thoughts below!

Fresh Denim Picks: Try On Confidential (Part 1)

Last year around this time, I showed a few of my favorite brands of denim. You can check out that post here.
A few of the size inclusive brands mentioned were:

Abercrombie (up to a size 16), Madewell, Good American, American Eagle, Jen 7 Jeans, Mott & Bow, Blank NYC , Articles of Society, Kut from the Kloth, DL1961, Universal Standard

Truth be told, I still LOVE all of the pairs that I showed last year and although I didn’t really NEED any new pairs of denim, I thought it would be fun to try a few new brands and styles that are outside of my usual denim repertoire. So welcome to an updated #TryOnConfidential, very excited about my size inclusive findings this year! Consider this part one, I’m sure I’ll have another at some point later in the fall. Be sure to leave any requests in a comment below. Brands tried:

J.Crew, LOFT, Everlane
+ Sofia Vergara

all items run TTS so follow each individual store’s sizing charts. I’m wearing my usual sizes 14 / L, size 11 shoe.

Well, what did you think? I hope this inspires you to step outside of your denim comfort zone this season and try a new brand/style. Leave any thoughts / questions below!
