Our Home Office + Guest Room
When my office moved into its new space (which is now Camille's nursery!), this room lost its purpose. It became half guest room, half storage space, and mostly a place where things without a home ended up. I knew it had more potential. So instead of a full renovation, we gave it a thoughtful refresh, creating a functional two-person workspace while keeping everything our guests need for a comfortable stay. A few layout changes made all the difference, and now this room works harder than almost any other space in our home.

Since this room still needs to function as a guest room, the sleeper sofa was staying… mostly because it was literally built inside this room and there’s no chance we’re getting it back out without professional movers. Thankfully, we still love it! This is actually our fourthBenchMade Modern sofa (you’ve seen them in our living room, morning room, and playroom too!), and I honestly can’t recommend them enough. Every sofa is made to order, so you can customize the size, fabric, and configuration to fit your space perfectly, and they’re ready in about 4–6 weeks. Most importantly, it’s actually comfortable as both a sofa and a comfy bed, which isn’t always easy to find.
From there, I focused on making the room feel bright, inviting, and functional for everyday life. The colorful rug and throw pillows add personality, while the faux yellow florals, family photos in these floral frames, and little details like a tissue box cover keep it from feeling like a temporary guest space.
The biggest change, though, was rethinking how the room works. We created a true two-person workspace with two side-by-side desks and comfortable office chairs, so my team member and I can both work in here when we need to. The clothing rack has become a must-have for my job, it keeps incoming pieces and filming outfits organized throughout the week… but when guests stay over, it easily becomes a spot for them to hang their clothes instead of living out of a suitcase. Even our Skylight Calendar (USE CARALYNM30) earned a permanent home in here since it’s become the command center for keeping our family on the same page.

I love a room that can do more than one job, and this one has quickly become one of the hardest-working spaces in our home. It’s where Brian and I work every day, where I organize incoming deliveries and filming outfits, and when family or friends come to visit, it easily transforms into a comfortable guest room. That’s exactly what I was hoping for, a space that’s functional without sacrificing warmth or style.
