Dining Room Reveal

It’s time to REVEAL the

Dining Room

Welcome to our dining room, one of the first rooms we started working on when we moved into this home last fall. Thanks to shipping delays, we’re finally getting around to sharing the space with you! This room is conveniently placed between the front entranceway and our morning room, previously shared on the blog. I’ve also shared our living room, primary bedroom, and my closet on the “home” tab.

This space is used for eating, and entertaining and it’s also a shared workspace when we have our team members in town so a big table was a must until we get the office space figured out. Here’s how the space looked before we moved in:

We worked closely with Michael P. Design of MichaelPDesign.com and Room to design the room to create a functional space. This room is a perfect square with good lighting, so we were willing to have a little fun with the space. Michael helped us choose our wall color, Benjamin Moore Jet Black, which was quite a bold choice, but we were excited about creating a moody vibe for it. Sherwin Williams’ Pure White is our trim and other woodwork throughout the house. We had all the woodwork, walls, and floors painted/refinished before we moved in.

If I’m being totally honest, I was a bit scared of the black paint color at first but have zero regrets now that I’m seeing it all together. The wainscotting on the walls (there previously just painted) helps balance the space, and the natural light allows it to pop with a nice balance of warmth and moodiness.

YOU ALWAYS HAVE A SEAT AT

OUR TABLE

We opted for a round dining room table and waited nearly 17 months for it to arrive. After seeing it in the space, I’m glad we were patient. It also came with a leaf to make the table bigger (which we actually keep in the majority of the time) to accommodate more seats as well. As far as the chairs go, we ordered through Room and went for the Olivia Chair and customized the fabrics with black velvet inside (on the seat and interior back), black and white herringbone pattern for the outside back, with a wood finish on the legs. We also got this buffet table that perfectly matches our table on major clearance because it was a slightly damaged floor model, but you’d never know!

It’s all about

the art

BK really took the reins on artwork throughout the house. It’s just something that I can appreciate but don’t have the patience or bandwidth to commit time to search for. My dad has these climbing men in his house in black, and I’ve always admired them. BK found them in gold, and I think they add a fun dimension to the wall. Years ago before we moved, I commissioned Inspirations on Canvas to paint us this piece, and I think it works beautifully in the space, Kathy is a wonderful human if you’re in the area, and I highly recommend checking out her shop! After we photographed this, we added this floater frame to the canvas, which looks more complete. He also found these floral prints that he decided to re-hang them closer together the day after we photographed this space… Thanks BK. We also have this circle scribble framed artwork that works nicely in the space.

I’m a big fan of coffee table books, and I previously shared a blog post on a few of my favorites! I love the neutral stack that I have going on here, I’ve linked all of the available details in the space below.

This space took a long time to pull together, but we’re happy it’s complete. What do you think of the space? Our next room reveal will likely be our baby’s nursery, which I’m very excited to share with you. Thank you so much for reading!
