One Pair of Jeans, Two Ways

I’ve always loved Old Navy as an affordable, size inclusive retailer. I recently had the chance to try out Old Navy’s new and improved Universal Fit Denim. I was skeptical but genuinely excited to try out their new offerings. They took everything people love about their legendary Rockstar jean – sexy curved waistband, perfectly placed pockets, curve hugging fabric – and applied it to all of their jeans. That means, in every single pair of denim in the whole store, you get better fit, better fabric, and better booty. Sign me up for that!

They relaunched four different styles:

Pop Icon Skinny

Rockstar Super Skinny

Slim-Straight

Kicker Boot Cut

I decided to try their High-Waisted Distressed Power Slim Straight Jeans and style them two ways- one great for the warmer fall weather now and another way for when the temperature starts to drop. These jeans cut clean and straight down the leg with just enough stretch to flatter every body (and booty). They have a Clever Secret-Slim front pockets hold you in for a slimming effect, which is an instant confidence boost. I am wearing my typical size 14 here but may consider swapping them out for a size 12, as they fit well but ran a little big in the waist.

I had a lot of fun styling these jeans, they’re such a good wash- they work well with literally anything. I loved the look of this Textured Houndstooth Coat (runs large, size down) paired with this polka dot Slub-Knit 3/4-Sleeve Twist-Back Top (I took a large).

So, are you convinced yet? I strongly encourage you to get your butt to an Old Navy store and try out their new and improved denim. I’m a believer and sincerely appreciate when brands listen to their customers’ feedback. Thanks to Old Navy for partnering with me on this post. All thought and opinions are my own. Spotted: Current Animal Print Favorites

It’s no secret I’m a big fan of animal print. It’s a great neutral that can pump up any basic outfit. I usually gravitate towards a good leopard/cheetah moment but this season, I’ve been having a lot of fun with snake print accessories and clothing. In spirit of new fall arrivals, I thought it’d be fun to round up a bunch of items at all price points that I have been incorporating into my wardrobe or have my eye on for the season. Hope you enjoy! You can shop the items by clicking on the images above and below.

  1. You’ve seen me post these pajamas on my feed here recently, cannot get enough. I promise you’ll love them too! They have a special fabric that keeps you cool at night, especially underneath the covers.

  2. My new favorite bag of the season, instantly pumps up any basic outfit. See how I styled it here!

  3. These scrunchies are made with silk so they never snag your hair or leave dents in them. I swear by these and sleep in them every night!

  4. LOVE these snake print mules/ flats, they really go with everything. See them styled here!

  5. LOVING this leopard dress, it’s really stretchy and comfortable. I’m wearing a size 14 comes in standard sizes and plus sizes.

  6. If you’re dipping your toes into the animal print trend, try with an accessory first. You can try these leopard inspired ones or if you’re feeling the snake print trend, try these!

  7. Can’t get enough of these leopard block heels, they’re a great height for all day comfort and instantly add chic to your day to night wardrobe. See them styled here!

  8. If you like a higher heel, check out these gorgeous pumps! I love the modern take on this print.

  9. I just received this luxurious cashmere sweater and I am OBSESSED. Can’t wait to pair it with medium wash jeans and some cute booties!

  10. I purchased a similar pair of leopard booties last year and couldn’t believe how much use I got out of them. They’re a great way to incorporate neutrals with a little oomph into your outfit.

  11. I just splurged on this phone case and can’t get enough. They come in a bunch of different colors and customization options so they would make a great gift!

  12. After renting this skirt via my Rent The Runway membership, I decided to purchase it. It’s just a great skirt, made well and super versatile throughout seasons.

  13. I got these leopard sneakers last spring and love this subtle pop of leopard. They’re super cute and look great with jeans, joggers and dresses. See them styled here!

  14. If you’re an avid traveler like myself, I swear by these packing cubes. I have them in a different shade but thought the leopard was a fun twist on them. See more of my packing/travel tips here.

  15. I recently purchased these snake print jeans for an upcoming post I’m working on and HELLO LOVER! They’re so fun and also come in plus sizes! I have been playing with styling of these- black and white tops look best with a white bootie!

Fall Accessory Refresh: Neutrals With A Punch

DSC06669.jpg

It’s no secret I LOVE all things Vince Camuto, especially their shoes and handbags. Some of my favorite summer + fall styles have been shown here, here, here and here - to name a few! I love how quality and versatile their offerings are while still offering a unique edge. They also go up to a size 12 in many of their shoe styles. That’s why I’m excited to collaborate with the Vince Camuto team to show you my new fall picks that I’ll be wearing all season long.

Facetune_10-09-2019-07-44-23.JPG

When it comes to investing in my shoes and handbags, I usually lean towards neutral pieces that will work with a wide variety of outfits. This season, I’m looking for elevated neutrals - or neutral pieces that have a little extra something! Snake print is a huge trend for fall so I love how this bag feels on trend but still incorporates the colors in a neutral color palette. Don’t be afraid to accessorize with animal print! Treat it as you would a black or nude.

When it comes to shoes, I’ve been on the hunt for all things boots and flats that are functional and fashionable. I need my shoes to last, be comfortable but also still complete my look. That’s why I’ve been gravitating towards styles like these studded flats with a little added detail.

Wardrobe Update: Boots, Pumps and Flats

This time of year, I always feel helpless when it comes to shoes. As a size 11, I often have a hard time finding styles I love and are functional. I need my shoes to be functional and fashionable- you’ll rarely see me in uncomfortable heels. As a model, I wear uncomfortable shoes for a living so I need my shoes to be on point! I’ve decided to round up a bunch of my favorite (and affordable) shoes for the season! Many of you have asked for boots, functional flats and wide width options. I’ve linked a bunch, so happy shopping!

If you don’t see anything you like and need help finding a specific pair, feel free to leave a comment or shoot me a message. I’m happy to help in any way that I can. After all, I know all too well that the shoe struggle can be REAL.

Try On Confidential: Episode 10: Dog Halloween Costumes and Red Dress Boutique

This week I am bringing you a double dose of #TryOnConfidential because I just love ya so much! When I first started the series over two months ago, I knew I wanted to do a spoof of the series featuring my beloved Walter! What better way to incorporate my favorite pup than having him guest star… He is usually shopping for his fall vests around this time but he’s never dressed up for Halloween so I knew we had to incorporate this! Be sure to tune into my stories to see all of the cuteness overload! You can click the images below to shop them directly.

PART 1: SHOP LAST MINUTE DOG COSTUMES UNDER $20

I also had a chance to connect with the ladies behind Red Dress Boutique. A few weeks ago, one of you suggested that I try it out and I was happy to do so! I was a little bit skeptical of their sizing because their sizing charts are not always accurate but I was pleasantly surprised to find some sweaters and dresses that I liked! Be sure to tune into my stories to see how these items fit! In most things, I was a size large but a couple items were one size. You can click the images below to shop them directly!

PART 2: SHOP RED DRESS BOUTIQUE UNDER $100 FINDS

Try On Confidential - Episode 9: 50 Fall Essentials Under $50

DSC06432.jpg

This week on my stories, you voted that you’d rather see fall basics under $50 rather than coats and jackets. I am so glad that I asked because I was preparing to do only outerwear! You all help me so much, I so appreciate all of your feedback. At the end of the day, I want to bring you things that you actually WANT to see so keep the comments coming!

This week, I challenged myself to find 50 items under $50 that are perfect for transitioning through seasons. I ended up finding some of my favorite pieces that I’m wearing (above $50) in under $50 dupes! I’ve also sprinkled in some coats + jackets under $50 in here. I will be showcasing about ten+ of these items on my IG story, so be sure to tune into that! Can’t wait to hear what you find.

Try On Confidential - Episode 7: Stitch Fix!

Facetune_27-09-2018-16-21-21.jpg

Each week, I’m determined to keep things fresh and new for the Try On Confidential’s. You asked for an honest Stitch Fix review and I’m THRILLED to be able to share my first of three Stitch Fix boxes for you. It’s an incredibly easy service to use but you need to know how to use it so I decided to compile some tips for you as you sign up before your first box arrives.

  1. Take 5-10 minutes to fill out your Stitch Fix Style Profile. This is an ESSENTIAL part of the stylists getting to know you. They more they know about you, your body type, your lifestyle and your price point, the better they will be able to curate your perfect box.

  2. Update your profile often and leave all of the feedback! Each time you receive a fix, you can choose to keep the same stylist or switch it up with someone new. The more you share with them about your styles, trends you’re loving or events you have coming up, the better!

  3. Pinterest is your BFF. You can directly link a board on your Style Profile for your stylist to view, which helps them get a great sense of your style goals.

  4. Use your style cards. To be honest, these are my favorite parts of the fixes. They show you two ways to style each outfit. This is so helpful for me because I often get so stuck on trying to figure out how to wear things more than once!

Tune into my IG stories for details on my latest Stitch Fix box and how I style them! I specifically asked for elevated basics for this box. To sign up for your very own first box, use this link here!

Try On Confidential - Episode 5: ASOS

IMG_9072.JPG

This week’s Try On Confidential is a reader’s choice: ASOS! I’m really excited about this one. Just so you know, I read every message and piece of feedback that you give me- it is very much appreciated! ASOS has been one of those brands that I’ve always admired from afar. I find myself scrolling through their website often and asking people “where’d ya get that?” with them replying “ASOS!” But I’ve never actually gone through with ordering from them… until this week!

They literally have something for everyone. ASOS is incredibly size inclusive for men + women (regular, petite, plus and tall). Their price range is pretty great too - you can find low to medium priced items. They offer clothing, shoes, accessories, beauty and gifting. Two thumbs up!

I reached out to ASOS and told them about my Try On Confidential series and they were kind enough to send me six items, which will be featured on my IG stories. I’ve been getting a few requests for accessories so I decided to try a few of those too! Here are my six picks + some other things I’m loving off of their site lately. All images are shoppable, you can click them and it’ll bring you directly to the site!

Try On Confidential- Episode 4: Rent The Runway

This week’s Try On Confidential decision to feature Rent The Runway was fueled around this pretty red dress that I wore to my Sonoma trip last week. I’ve seriously never received so many messages about a dress before, I knew I needed to feature it this week. I’ve been a longtime Rent the Runway fan, using it as my go-to for special events. It’s so easy- they send you the items with a pre-paid UPS label and you send back the worn clothes when you’re done with them. Ship them back and they take care of cleaning the items too! Stay tuned for my IG stories to see more about the process.

IMG_8554.JPG

They’ve recently launched their Unlimited program where you can rent 4 items on rotation and swap them as often as you’d like for $159 a month. It is the smarter, better, more thrilling way to access the fall fashion of your dreams without the typical drawbacks of seasonal transition - shopping trips, closet restocking, unpredictable weather and, worst of all- overspending. I told them I was doing this and they were kind enough to offer my readers an exclusive code for 40% off your first month of membership (cancel anytime btw)!

Use “CARALYNPERK40” for 40% off, sign up here!

Here are the four items I was able to rent, I rented with the intentions of my Sonoma trip and an upcoming wedding! Check out my stories to see how these items look on + what sizes I wore. As always, the links are all shoppable- you can shop these items directly from this page!

However, RTR is NOT just for dresses. Unlimited gives you unrestricted access to all the layers you need for sweater weather - jackets, sweaters, tops, bottoms, work dresses, weekend wear, etc. Here are a few of my favorites:

With RTR Unlimited, you can wear the fall wardrobe of your dreams without the investment or closet space. Access $50,000 in designer clothes for a flat monthly price ($159/mo) but use “CARALYNPERK40” to get 40% off your first month! Would you try something like this? Leave a comment below.

Try On Confidential - Episode 2: Abercrombie

Happy Friday! I am beyond excited to keep this try on series going, the response from last week was incredible. As we keep this going, I will definitely fine tune the process. Keep the requests coming, I love hearing what you are shopping for! This week, I am featuring an oldie- Abercrombie & Fitch. Hear me out here- I could never fit into A&F when I was younger, I barely squeezed into their XL in 8th grade. After searching the web I kept coming across items from them and finally, I caved. They seem to have really reinvented themselves, with minimal logos and better sizing. I ordered a bunch of things and decided to do a try on haul for you all.  The prices are also incredibly reasonable- especially with this weekend's sale!

A couple things to note:

  • Their sizing is still a tad wonky. I am a true 14, I fit into their largest size denim (32W) but sometimes I wear large's in their bottoms. Some of their stretchy bottoms can fit a 16. For the most part, I'm a large in their clothing. Occasionally I will buy an XL, some of the oversized sweaters I've purchased a medium. My best advice: order a few sizes and try them out. It takes some time to find your fit but once you do - I promise you won't be disappointed.
  • Join their *free* A&F Club - you get exclusive offers, earn points on every purchase and access to exclusive sales.
  • I'm really impressed with their quality, their sales are awesome so I feel like these items are a great value. Other than them not being 100% size inclusive, I feel like they're a gem!

Be sure to tune into my IG stories to see how these items fit on me. I've also added a few other styles that would be great to freshen up your fall wardrobe! Leave a comment below on what styles you're loving.

NEW Weekly Try On Series - Episode 1

I absolutely love when I get requests from you- whether its email, comments or direct messages. It makes me feel like I am your "go-to girl" on all things. I love that so many of you can relate to my curvy size 14 figure, so much so that you like seeing clothes on me before you buy them. That's why I've decided to launch a weekly series where I will be buying and trying items from different stores. I will be categorizing them by stores and items. Each week, I'll be showing you how they look on me and giving you my honest feedback. I hope to develop this idea into some sort of hashtag so you can use it too when you buy and try the items I've suggested.  As always, I'm open to all of your feedback so feel free to leave a note below on which store or items you'd like to see next!

This week's pick: H&M

H&M is always a favorite but their sizing can be a little crazy. However, I noticed that they have taken strides to improve their sizing. I would say that their sizing is much more accurate, if anything it runs large. I wear a size 14 or 12 in most of these items. Be sure to check out my IG story for a better idea of how they fit! All of the images below are shoppable - feel free to click and shop the looks directly from here.
