Pack With Me: Editing Down My Vacation Wardrobe
What’s ACTUALLY MAKING IT
InTO My Suitcase
If you’ve been around here for a while, you know I love having options… which can make packing a bit of an adventure. For this trip, I challenged myself to be more intentional and resist my usual urge to pack every possible outfit combination. Instead, I focused on versatile pieces that can be mixed, matched, and re-worn throughout the week. The goal? Pack lighter, outfit repeat more, and still feel like I have plenty to wear.
A few weeks ago, I shared the travel essentials that come with me on every trip. Once those were packed, it was time to tackle the clothing. After plenty of editing, adding things back in, and editing again, I think I’ve finally landed on my vacation wardrobe. From swimsuits and coverups to easy dresses, matching sets, and travel outfits, here’s everything currently making the cut.
Swimsuits
When it comes to vacation packing, swimsuits are the one thing I don’t mess around with. Most trips like this revolve around being in the water, so I always start with swimwear and build the rest of my suitcase from there. I’d rather have a few extra swimsuit options than a bunch of outfits I never end up wearing.
This trip’s lineup includes a mix of supportive favorites, newer finds, classic neutrals, and a few fun colors and prints. If you’re looking for even more swimwear and cover-up recommendations, be sure to check out my latest Swim + Coverup Guide.

Cover-ups
A good cover-up pulls a lot of weight in my vacation wardrobe. I look for pieces that are easy to throw on, pack well, and can take me from the water straight to lunch without much thought. I packed a mix of sarongs, lightweight cover-ups, and a few pieces that can double as actual outfits when needed. Easy, comfortable, and one less thing to think about while on vacation.

Dresses/Jumpsuit
Dresses are probably the hardest category for me to edit down because they’re so easy. One piece, minimal effort, and you instantly look put together. I packed a mix of easy daytime styles and a few that can work for dinner, all lightweight enough for warm weather and comfortable enough to actually wear. Extra bonus points for being able to handle sticky toddler hands and infant spit-up!

Matching Sets
Matching sets are some of the hardest-working pieces in my suitcase. Worn together, they make getting dressed effortless, but I can also mix and match the pieces with other items I’ve packed to create even more outfit options. They’re comfortable, easy to wear, and have become a staple of my summer mom wardrobe.

Accessories
I try to keep my accessories fairly edited, but they're what make repeat outfits feel a little different throughout the trip. A few pairs of sandals, some favorite jewelry, and the right beach bag can go a long way without taking up much suitcase space.

THANK YOU FOR READING!
One thing that helped tremendously was using packing cubes to keep everything organized and make the most of my suitcase space. If you’ve never used them before, I have a full guide on exactly how I use packing cubes when I travel.
Between packing smarter, choosing versatile pieces, and sticking to things I know I’ll actually wear, this may be one of my most practical vacation suitcases yet. If you’re planning a vacation of your own, I hope this gives you some ideas for packing a little lighter without feeling like you have nothing to wear.
