My Top 7 Wire-Free Bras
If you love the idea of a wireless bra but have struggled to find one that actually feels supportive, I get it. As a 38GG, I want comfort, but I also want a bra that does its job. After plenty of wearing and comparing, these are the seven wireless styles I keep in rotation. Each earns its spot for a different reason, from a smooth everyday option to something barely there for sleeping.
You do not need all seven! My goal is to help you find the one (or a few) that makes sense for your body, your wardrobe, and the support you’re looking for.
FIRST, a few notes on fit:
Wireless bras can look and feel different from underwire styles, so I approach the fit a little differently, too. I’m looking for comfortable support, breast tissue that stays contained, and a bra that stays in place as I move through my day. Here’s what I pay attention to:
Start with the size chart for that specific style. Your usual letter size is only a starting point. I wear a large in the Evelyn & Bobbie Defy and an XL in the Scoop, so even within the same brand, I don’t assume I’ll wear the same size.
Make sure your breast tissue is fully contained. Take a moment to settle everything into the bra, then check the neckline, sides, and underneath. I want everything comfortably inside, without tissue popping out when I move.
Look for a secure fit around your body. A wireless bra still needs to feel anchored. For me, there’s a difference between comfortably snug and so tight that I can’t wait to take it off.
Check the fit beyond the mirror. Raise your arms, bend over, sit down, and try it under the clothes you plan to wear. A bra has to work when you’re living in it.
Match your expectations to the style. I reach for my sheer sleep bra for a very different reason than my most supportive everyday option. Think about how much support, coverage, and shaping you actually want.
And if a particular bra has specific break-in instructions, pay attention to those. My Defy, especially, feels different after a few wears, but that isn’t something I assume about every wireless bra.
mY EVERYDAY GO TO: DEFY BRA
Best for: Everyday support and a smooth look under clothes.
My ultimate everyday wireless bra and current go-to under T-shirts. Supportive, smooth, and especially good for smoothing through the back, it’s a splurge I reach for constantly. I wear a L as a 38GG: follow their unique size chart and give it two to three wears to mold to your curves. Expect a snug fit at first.
FOR TANKS, DRESSES, AND A MORE OPEN NECKLINE: BOBBIE SCOOP BRA
Best for: Open necklines and a little less coverage.
The one I reach for with tanks and dresses, thanks to its lower neckline and thinner, adjustable straps. A great option to explore for smaller busts, too. I wear an XL, a different size than my Defy (shown above).
DOWNTIME BRALETTE: A FULLER BUST MVP
Best for: Fuller busts that want substantial wireless support.
A fuller-bust MVP with so much support, you might forget it’s wireless. It feels secure and looks smooth under clothes, making it an easy everyday pick. This is one I’d primarily recommend to fuller-busted, fuller-figured readers. I wear 38GG.
Best for: Everyday wireless comfort on a budget.
An affordable option that gives me some of what I love about the Defy for less. I especially appreciate the adjustable back closure. Sizing can be tricky, so make sure all your breast tissue stays comfortably contained when you move. I wear XXL!
Best for: Lower necklines without a big splurge.
A budget-friendly wireless option for those lower-cut tops and dresses. The plunging neckline is what earns this one its spot, just check that everything stays comfortably contained when you bend and move. I wear XXL!
Best for: Barely-there comfort when you want a little something.
The least supportive bra on this list, and I freaking love it. Completely sheer and a little sexy, it gives me just enough support for sleeping, lounging, and busy mornings. It was my sleep MVP during pregnancy, and I still reach for it constantly. I wear XLDD!

Best for: Strapless outfits with a softer, more natural shape.
A comfy wireless strapless option that does a decent job without dramatic lift or separation. I wear an XL and prefer my smaller size for a secure, compressive fit. A useful option when comfort is the priority!

One thing to note:
I usually take out any removable padding and wear my CAKES Body nipple covers underneath instead. That’s my preferred combo for coverage without fussing with bra inserts! If you’re wondering which nipple covers are right for you, I have a whole nipple cover guide; take a look if you missed it.
Which one should you start with?
Think about the gap in your bra drawer. If you need a smooth everyday option, my most-worn pick is the Evelyn & Bobbie Defy. If fuller-bust support is your priority, look at the Elomi Downtime. For barely-there comfort, I love the EBY Sheer Mesh.
The other styles earn their spots by solving specific wardrobe needs: a more open neckline, a lower price point, a deeper plunge, or a strapless outfit. You don’t need a drawer full of bras that all do the same thing. You need options that work for your life, and that you actually want to wear.
