Spring Workwear

Refresh

Let's talk workwear! As many continue to head back to work in person, I thought it'd be helpful to share a refresh of some of the workwear finds I've been eying lately. I know my content tends to lean more on the casual side, but many of my looks and ideas can be made workwear friendly with a change of shoe or pants, depending on your industry.

I previously shared five back-to-the-office essentials and last year's business casual guide which includes places to shop more workwear finds if you've missed it. I've more recently shared a post on spring blazers, spring tops, and five spring outfit formulas that can easily shift to be more workwear friendly.

The key to building a good workwear wardrobe is staple pieces that can be worn in several ways. Of course, the foundation of any good wardrobe includes properly fitting and supportive undergarments. If you haven't seen my recent posts, check out this underwear drawer refresh and the answers to your most frequently asked undergarment questions.

A few years ago, I fell in love with The Perfect Pant collection from Spanx. They're a bit of a splurge, but the quality is incredible with some tummy support. They come in sizes XS-3X, with petite and tall lengths available too. I’ve also heard great things about Talbots, LOFT, Banana Republic and Ann Taylor pants too.

Dresses/jumpsuits are my favorite thing to wear because they’re one thing to throw on and your outfit is nearly complete! This sheath dress is a timeless style and I love that it is available in three neutral colors up to size 24 and also petite lengths. This dress is under $25 and could easily be layered with a blazer or cardigan. The Amazon Essentials brand has some great under $40 options if you’re looking for more, I have a ton in XL (up to 6X)!

When it comes to tops, those are easier to refresh and change. I previously shared a roundup of a few favorites at all price points, but I also wanted to reiterate how much I love this one! I was unsure if I loved it because it looked a little boxy off the body, but I thought it was a great layering piece that could work from desk to date night (shown below). I previously shared some Amazon work-friendly tops here and the secret to buying button up shirts too!

A good tote bag is essential, I recently got this one in both sizes, and I can't believe how much use I've gotten out of it. They're incredibly high quality and well made. If you're looking for a more budget-friendly option, this one is great too! A few more of my go-to spots for work bags are Cuyana, Fossil, Leatherology, Madewell, and Tory Burch.

Shoes are a fun way to accessorize and make the outfit feel new. You can add a pop of color or keep it neutral! I previously shared some of my go-to brands and styles as a size 11 wearing shoe gal on this post! These flats are a splurge, but I have traveled the world in them. They're made of recycled water bottles and are machine washable. You can use CARALYN20 towards your first purchase! These mules are also a great budget-friendly option, and I love the pointed toe on them. If you struggle with backless shoes, you may love mule socks that help keep the shoes in place!

I hope you loved this post! Feel free to leave any of your favorite workwear pieces or finds below. I’m sure others would love to hear! Be sure to explore the different categories on the blog for more inspiration. As always, thanks for reading. xx CMK
