The Casual Girl's Guide to Blazers

It’s no secret I don’t work from an office. Truthfully, I am typing this blog post from the comfort of leggings and an oversized sweater. HOWEVER, there are times that I need to look polished and put together while staying comfortable and that’s when I turn to blazers. There’s no need to be intimidated by them, I think anyone at any stage in life could rock them- even if you’re in a very casual environment. They instantly give me a boost of confidence when I wear them. That’s why I’ve decided to put together some tips for the casual gal like myself to style them in a few different ways!

All outfits are pieces under $200 and from one of my favorite places to shop online, Nordstrom! They cater to all shapes and sizes and have a fantastic return policy if the items don’t work for you. Feel free to use these looks as inspiration and recreate.

START WITH YOUR BLAZER:

I’ve began a collection of blazers but tend to gravitate towards the ones with the softest material. Pro tip: buy blazers that have soft fabric with structure and you’ll feel like an absolute boss babe with the comfort of a sweatshirt! I also like to get blazers that are longer in length and cover the majority of my bum.

ADD YOUR CASUAL BASICS:

A few outfit ideas:
BLAZER + BODYSUIT + BLACK JEANS + BELT + KNEE HIGH BOOTS

BLAZER + GRAPHIC TEE + JEANS + SNEAKERS

BLAZER + BLOUSE + FAUX LEATHER LEGGINGS + FLATS

I think the key for me was realizing that you could treat a blazer like any other light jacket / sweater. It is such an easy, versatile layering piece with an instant added sophistication. It’s easy to get overwhelmed with styling but keeping things simple will never steer you wrong. Take any of the above outfits and throw on a heel for a cool and sexy date night look.

So, casual girls - what’d you think? I hope this post gives you the confidence to style your blazers with a little more ease and excitement.
