Let’s Get Packin’

Luggage And Bags For Travel

It’s no secret that I love to travel! Since the start of my career, I have been traveling independently for work, and ever since Brian and I started dating, we developed a genuine love for it. I’ve used (and burned through) several different pieces of luggage over the years and have shared items sporadically, so today, I thought I’d share an updated list of favorites to shop at all price points.

In case you haven’t explored the “travel” tab of the blog lately, I’ve shared several trip roundups and recaps. Recently, I’ve shared five tips for traveling while pregnant and a Q&A: our top tips for traveling. I’ve also shared how to maximize the space in your luggage by using packing cubes and my secrets to packing efficiently.

Can’t go anywhere without A FEW OF THESE

Travel Essentials

These packing cubes are a great way to stay organized before, during, and even after traveling. I like to use each cube by category and assign a different compartment for dresses, swimsuits/coverups, shoes, undergarments, and another for athleisure/loungewear/pajamas. I’ve also heard that some families will assign a cube to each family member, you could also organize by outfit or do whatever feels right to you! This jewelry case has been on several trips with me. It holds several large earrings, bracelets, and necklaces. Are you someone who tends to over-pack? This luggage scale is perfect for avoiding over-weight fees when checking their bag.

After I had to retire my old travel make-up bag, I found this one. I was skeptical of how much it claimed to hold, but it did not disappoint. It held liquids, makeup, and brushes and packed really well in my suitcase. This neck pillow was recommended to me by a blog reader and has been a favorite ever since. It is so comfortable and comes in a few sizes, including kids. I love these clear toiletry bags for my sunscreens and to organize items in my tote bag. They make going through TSA quick and easy and make it easy to see what is in them when looking for something.

KEEP IT MOVING WITH

Rolling Luggage

Onto one of my most frequently requested items, rolling luggage! We invested in our Away bags years ago, and I previously reviewed them here when they first came out. I feel like people either really love them or hate them, we’ve used them enough to justify the expense but if you’re not a frequent traveler, I do have some other suggestions and different price points for you to consider. We have this checked bag that folds and clips shut over a zipper, which we like. Brian and I both have this carry-on roller bag, which has evolved since the original carry-on I previously reviewed. The wheels are smoother and it’s easier to close.

I like to choose an open tote or duffle with a zipper as my personal item when traveling. I love to throw this bag in my suitcase because it packs down to nothing and allows you to have an extra bag if needed. Here are a few options for carry-on bags and checked luggage:

Baby Travel Essentials

In preparation for our first trip with Conrad earlier this month, we prepared for the worst and hoped for the best. Several items came in handy that we were happy to have packed, like our doona that easily morphs from a car seat to a stroller! As we prepare for our second trip with Conrad, we will definitely be bringing these items.
