Pajama & Robe Refresh

Because YOU DESERVE TO WEAR CUTE PAJAMAS

It’s been a few years since I graduated from old t-shirts to pajama sets, spending a little more than I typically did on them, and I can confirm I look forward to this part of my evening routine even more now. Someone once said to me that pajama sets make them feel like a real grown-up adult, and while I can assure you I am not put together 100% of the time, an excellent pajama set certainly helps with this feeling.

Over the past four months of pregnancy, which I shared more about here, pajamas and robes have been my preferred outfit choice, especially in the first trimester. Some days I’d change out of my evening pajamas and put a fresh pair of daytime pajamas on. Brian was often perplexed, wondering where these pajamas suddenly came from… I had a moment and decided to stock up on a few extra pairs to avoid laundry days. #treatyourself.

ROBE (XL)

Maybe you prefer a nightgown, maybe you like shorts, maybe you like to buy your tops and bottoms in different sizes, or maybe you sleep in the nude. Who am I to judge? Either way, I thought it’d be fun to share a few of my go-to destinations when shopping for pajamas and robes… in case you’re looking to upgrade that pajama drawer. If you missed it, don’t forget to refresh your underwear drawer too! If you’re looking for sleeping bras (also known as wire fee), I previously shared a few favorites here.

My go-tos for Pajamas & Robes

AMAZON
Okay, we all know it can be a little hit or miss, but luckily for you, I’ve tried a bunch and read reviews. I’ve also got a bunch saved to my Amazon Storefront. Amazon is a great place to shop for pajamas/robes, especially when you’re not looking to spend a ton. When it doubt, size up, especially if you like to dry things on high heat.

BAREFOOT DREAMS
I fell victim to the Barefoot Dreams era that hit the interwebs by storm a few years ago and have never regretted any of my purchases. I splurged for the robe last year, and it’s my favorite to wear, especially in the chillier months. They also have some lighter-weight styles if you’re looking for less bulk.

J.CREW
They can be hit or miss depending on the time of year and season, but if you love cotton-poplin feeling pajamas, definitely check them out. I’ve also gotten some lovely waffle-knit sets there. They offer some fun prints, too, up to 3X!

LAKE PAJAMAS
After many years of resisting, I finally bit the bullet and tried these for myself last year. They genuinely feel like luxurious cotton pajamas. The more you wash them, the softer and more worn-in they get. I will say be sure to size up because they shrink, so I try to dry them on low heat.

NORDSTROM
OK, after much hype, I ordered the Moonlight Pajamas that I see so many people talk about, and now I completely understand the hype. They come in standard sizes (XS-XL) and plus sizes (1X-4X), they wash beautifully, and you can often get different colorways on sale. The fabric also comes in several different silhouette combinations (long sleeve and pants, short sleeve and pants, short sleeve and shorts, nightgowns, etc.) so you can choose your

PRINT FRESH
If you’re looking for some fun and bold prints, you definitely want to check out Print Fresh. They have robes, nightgowns, and pajama sets in a lovely sturdy cotton fabric sized XXS-6X, feeling better after every wash!

SOMA
If you’ve been around here for awhile, you’ve probably heard me talk about Soma’s Cool Nights pajamas before. They keep you cool and dry throughout the night and are perfect to wear year-round. They come in a ton of silhouettes and you can purchase the coordinating tops and bottoms separately so you can purchase different sizes.

TARGET
I have not personally worn Target pajamas in awhile but several of my friends said that the Beautifully Soft collection is similar to Nordstrom’s Moonlight and a fraction of the price. If you take care of them, I bet they will last which brings me to my next point…

taking care of your pajamas

You’ve probably heard me talk about this stretch athleisure wash before! Let me tell you, I still stand by the fact that it has significantly extended the lifecycle of my clothing. You can use this wash on anything with a high elasticity content, so swimwear, pajamas, shapewear, athleisure/athletic clothing. It also does a good job of getting the stink/sweat out. It comes in liquid or powder versions. Highly, highly recommend it!
