Current Sports Bra Favorites (That Are Actually Supportive)

Sports bras (much like all other undergarments) are based on preference. My friends at Lace & Day always say that a bra fitter’s job is essentially to be a matchmaker, helping you find “the one” based on your shape, size and preferences. After many years of trial and error, I’ve found that I prefer underwire with no/minimal padding for everyday wear and exercise. This may or may not work best for you! It’s also important to consider than when it comes to sports bras, there are two types of support: encapsulation and compression. Compression is what you may be used to / think of most as a sports bra but I much prefer encapsulation (underwire) for support.

Given the current state of the world, it may be more difficult for you to go and get fitted at a local specialty shop or Nordstrom. To locate a specialty shop, simply type in your zip code or city name and add “lingerie stores near me” into the search bar. If you can’t get to a fitting, be sure to refer to this guide and these tips for guidance. As mentioned in my recent post strapless bra recommendations, do NOT purchase any of these unless you are confident in your size and/or are willing to buy + try a few sizes if you aren’t. Here are a few of my preferred, medium to high impact styles. Due to a neck injury, I am unable to comfortably wear racerback styles. However, all of these styles have a “J-hook” which allows versatility with racerback convertibility. Another thing to keep in mind is when you forgo wires, you forgo separation. I included a few wire free styles for those who are interested but the same fit rules DO NOT 100% apply to styles with wires.
Sized 32GG - 46DD (I wear 34G)
