Lace & Day Comfort Project: How You Can Help!

I could guess that I’m not the only one who feels a little helpless surrounding current events. I know that by staying home, I’m helping to stop slow the spread but it just feels like I could do a little more, especially with the support of the incredible community you’ve helped me built. My friends Holly and Emily of Lace & Day called me last week and told me about their Comfort Project and I knew I wanted to be involved.

In case you’re not familiar, Lace & Day is a professional bra-fitting, lingerie, and underwear store in Buffalo, NY. They’ve recently launched their Lace & Day Comfort Project, a way for us to join them in thanking the nurses in Buffalo and Western New York who are caring for our community during this time of crisis.

With our help, their hope is to provide nurses (RN, LPN, CNA) in Buffalo and Western New York a gift bag from Lace & Day. Each gift bag will contain something comfortable and cozy that will welcome them home after a long shift caring for those battling COVID-19. Or, a fresh stash of undies so they don’t have to worry about laundry before going back to work the next day. Either way, the goal is to provide a thank you and morale boost to those fighting at the core of this battle.

To support this project, please visit Lace & Day’s website and sponsor a gift in the amount of $25, $50, or $100. Want to give more? Simply increase the quantity of gifts. Lace & Day will compile gift bags (at a generous discount off of retail) to be delivered to nurses who are working at the facilities caring for those with COVID-19 in our community.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

Q: There are lots of medical professionals, who is eligible to receive a gift?

A: We are working directly with the foundation staff at the major hospital systems to distribute the comfort package. For now, the focus is on nurses – RNs, LPNs, and CNAs. Depending on community response, we are open to including more frontline workers.

Q: Who benefits from this project?

1. First and foremost, nurses. They are the inspiration for this project.
2. The general public who feels unable to help those on the frontlines.

3. Lace & Day is a local, small business, struggling through these uncertain economic times. They will sell goods for the program at a significant discount but will still cover our cost and take a marginal profit.

4. Their vendors are also small businesses. Any goods they purchase for this program will support other small businesses in the U.S.

Q: Is my gift tax deductible?

A: No, they are essentially helping you give a physical gift to another person in our community.

Q: What will be the value of the care packages?

A: The retail value of the packages will be about $50-100.

Q: How will nurses and CNA's be identified to receive a care package?

A: They are working with contacts at each of the major hospitals in our area to deliver packages to nurses dealing with COVID-19 patients. They are not identifying specific recipients but allowing the hospital staff to disperse them. Lace & Day has talked with the foundations at the local hospital systems and they are excited to boost morale with this program.

Q: How many care packages are you giving?

A: That is up to us! The sky's the limit! They are in contact with vendors who are willing to participate by supplying us with more cozy items if Lace & Day exhausts their in-stock inventory.

Q: Are these only for female nurses?

A: No! They appreciate and honor the male nurses! Lace & Day will also be putting together packages of men’s loungewear and underwear for the gents.

Q: Where can I contact if I have questions or I want to help?

A: Please send them an email at ComfortProject@laceandday.com
