Cold Weather Boots

As a Buffalo gal, I consider myself a winter veteran. Despite my lack of enthusiasm surrounding the cold weather, I certainly know how to dress for it! Here are a few pairs of winter/ cold weather boots and brands that I’ve had luck with. If you live somewhere that it’s consistently cold year-round, I would encourage you to invest in a pair. Some of these I’ve had for 7+ years, no joke so I’ve tried to link similar / updated styles. You can click on the images or links below to shop!

I personally own pair numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, an older version of 7, 8, 9 and 10. You may wonder, why so many? Well, I’ve had many of these for years and I’ve slowly added to my collection and believe some have better uses than others for different events and outfits. As I mentioned above, I’m firm believer in investing in a good pair! They will last you and good quality truly make all of the difference but I did share a few under $50 pairs here as well. In 2020 we’re not leaving the house as much as I normally would be this time of year but I figure I’d break down some of my favorites and why.

For heavy duty snow days these are my absolute favorite. They’re warm and waterproof but they do take a little bit of effort to get on. These are a similar option for less with great reviews as well as a shorter height here. For walking the dog I have a similar pair to these that I’ve had for nearly a decade and love how easy they are to throw on and off.

For rainy days, these boots are an absolute classic. I have two versions of the tall boots and they are my favorite! I’ve contemplated the shorter pair but haven’t been able to justify them quite yet. They aren’t necessarily snow boots but you can add a sock insert to make them warmer. I snagged these water resistant boots about a month ago and I love the height, good for walks or a more casual outfit.

These aren’t the most functional snow boots but the early 2000’s pre-teen in me will never forgo my classic UGG boots. They are super warm and someday (when it’s cool again) I will stuff my velour tracksuit that I saved from 2010 back into them. A few years ago, I splurged on this pair (as seen below) and I think they’re a cooler, more modern update with the comfort and warmth. Be sure to waterproof your suede boots with a spray, I like this one- it’ll allow them last longer!

Lastly, the more fashionable and functional boot. I splurged on these ones and I was really impressed by how warm and sleek they are. As a size 11 shoe, boots often make my feet feel large and clunky and these weren’t that at all. I also just snagged these (on sale) for a dressier option, will report back on how they work! I have been wanting to style these for awhile, finally took the plunge while they were on sale.

boot styling tips:

Winter boots can be very clunky and feel very heavy and large. In my honest opinion, the warmest boots I’ve ever had have been on the larger side- there’s really no way to avoid that. However, I think it’s all about balancing those proportions. In my experience, I’ve found wearing a slimmer leg pant or legging with boots looks the best. Tucking your pants / leggings into the boots creates an elongated look. I would be open to doing a reels style video on styling tips if you’d be open to that!
